Pot Pantheon RuPaul.

The experience of listening to the entirety of RuPaul's way too prolific discography over the prep week for this episode has been

well, many things. At turns, it's delightful. Thirty plus years of musical output speckled with

some truly earwormy bops, cannily treading the line between camp and genuine banger in a way that

only mother can. Sometimes it was nostalgic, revisiting indelible tracks from one of my all-time favorite shows,

Lupal's Drag Race, a subversion come mainstream TV juggernaut that is without question one of the most significant pieces of 21st century queer media.

It had funny moments in ways I sometimes couldn't tell the intentionality of, but it was also periodically confounding.

Records that play like corporatized catchphrase jingles, pale riffs on stupid trends,

and sometimes even combative screeds against the queer community, Rue has purported to uplift. And frankly, a lot of times, I won't lie, the whole journey was downright harrowing.

But what I can say after imbibing 16 RuPaul albums is that preparing for a RuPaul

episode of Pop Pantheon was unlike any experience I have had in the five years of making this show.

That's because RuPaul is unlike any other star we've featured on the show.
