Summary

Rudy Farias was 17 when he vanished in Houston in 2015. He was last seen walking his two dogs – the animals returned home and he did not.

Over the years, Rudy’s family gave multiple media interviews and conducted fundraising in an effort to find him. Rudy’s mother Janie even flew to California to visit a John Doe in a hospital at one point, who authorities thought may have been Rudy. When she found the male was not her son, she collapsed and had to be hospitalized herself.

On June 29, 2023, a man resembling Rudy was found injured and unable to communicate on the steps of a Houston church. Somehow, Rudy’s family were notified and were on the scene before law enforcement. They made many social media posts announcing that their beloved son had been found alive after eight years! What a miracle!

Except their story quickly unravelled. It turns out that Rudy actually returned two days after he went missing in 2015 and he had been home this entire time. There are now allegations of abuse and sexual assault against Rudy’s mother, Janie.

1:07.6	the fourth girl. Yeah, so the suspect's name is Rex Huiman. I think we're saying that right.
1:14.5	And he's an architect from New York, which I feel like he wasn't on anyone's radars that I've
1:19.7	ever ever seen in relation to this case. You know, everyone thought it was the doctor or the
1:24.6	cop or you know, all the ones that we spoke about and I'm very, very early. But they were all more
1:29.0	connected to like Shannon Gilbert, right? I might not even be connected to this technically.
1:35.3	Yeah, but yeah, so it's been a big day. I literally woke up to this at like 730 in the morning.
1:41.2	Olivia texted me, which is usually has to be at work at 730, but I'm on a passive strike with
1:47.5	my job where I'm just going in whenever I want. So I was still in bed and Olivia texted me.
1:53.6	And I got on and I think that I've been dealing with this and posting about it and reading about
1:58.8	it literally all day. My brain is like mush, my whole body hurts from like looking at my phone all day.
