Summary

Everyone knows there as so many great things about the RV lifestyle, but there is one thing particularly not-so-great: it can be downright unhealthy. Of course, there are good reasons - it takes effort to make healthy foods and avoid stopping for a quick snack or fast food meal and even more effort to stay fit. After all, who wants to work so much or be uncomfortable when you are supposed to be most comfortable - while RVing? Too bad say the guests on this week's episode of the Roadtreking RV Lifestyle podcast - Stefany and James Adinaro of TheFitRV.com - who say you're going to have to suck it up if you want to live long enough to truly enjoy everything that RVing has to offer. The payoff for being fit and healthy? Being able to RV into your 90s! [spp-player] Among other things, Stef and James talk with Roadtreking about: How the RV Lifestyle is terribly unhealthy for so many people [spp-tweet "While on the road you can not eat as if every day is a vacation"] Walking isn't enough or a good enough exercise for most people You must exercise 150 minutes of moderate cardio exercise each week. If you don't sweat, you are NOT working out You need two to three full body sytrength workouts every week You can be healthy and fit and active into your 80s and 90s IF you exercise and eat right What to eat every day to lose weight or keep from gaining weight The perfect exercise equipment to take with you that doesn't take up much room How to incorporate exercise as part of your RV adventures through active outdoor activities The perfect workout to start your exercise regimen [spp-tweet "Stop driving every two hours and get out and move around for 10-15 minutes"] [spp-tweet "Don't eat when driving, have snacks only when you stop and snack on healthy things like fruit. Popcorn (unbuttered) isn't a bad snack!"] This episode also features tons of great listener questions addressing everything from diesel fuel and packing clothes to upcoming Roadtreking trips, a great Off-The-Beaten-Path report from Utah, RV traveling tech tips, and more! [spp-player] Complete shownotes for episode 33 of the Roadtreking RV Lifestyle podcast Ticks: A Tick Removal Tool Jennifer says it's time to protect our pets against ticks, noting that Tai had one this week. The vet they take Tai to said dogs should be on tick medication all year around. Mike says he bought a tick extraction tool called the Tick Key that he will keep in the RV this season (a little over $7 on Amazon). To read about how to remove ticks  check out this post from the blog - https://rvlifestyle.com/protect-your-pets-against-ticks/ Listener Question: Can You Help an RV Newbie Out? A listener named Tony, who says he is a newbie to the RV scene and about to get his first RV, has lots of questions, especially about how he can camp year-round. Question: Is It Hard to Find Diesel Fuel for RVs? A Roadtreking.com blog reader named Burt asks about the availability of diesel fuel, noting that he has heard it is hard to find. We put that idea to rest, even sharing the Road Ninja app (www.roadninja.com/) that lets you quickly find diesel stations around you. Question: Can You Help Me Pack All These Clothes Better? Medium eBags (that's what we use). They come in sets of three, in different colors Listener Brenda says she has heard us talk about some bags we use for packing our clothes. We tell her about eBags Packing Cubes. We each have the large bags, which come in a set of three.  They also come in different colors. Mike has blue, Jennifer red. Here's a link for them at Amazon - http://amzn.to/1uf7Bfw .We also direct her to this video Jen did on how we pack them. https://rvlifestyle.com/ebags-the-best-way-to-pack-and-carry-your-clothes/ [spp-player] Question: I'm Ready to Cut the Cord  (I Think)...HELP! We have an email from Roger who asks about cutting the cord - using one phone for home and one for RVing - and wants to know what is involved.
