Many have hailed Chris Skidmore as a ‘Politician with principles’ following his resignation from UK Government over its decision to grant new oil and gas licences. Since authoring the Government’s independent Net Zero review in 2023, Chris has advocated for the transition to cleaner technologies.

In this episode Chris talks about the need for greater political backing of EVs and clean energy solutions, what is at stake for UK industry and the economy if we don’t embrace these new technologies, and how we can all help influence positive change at a grassroots level.

1:08.8	Welcome, Chris, and thank you very, very much indeed for joining us. You're incredibly passionate about the subject and people have talked
1:18.8	about you in the press as a politician with principles because you walked away this January, didn't you?
1:27.2	So just tell me why you did that and why it's so important to you. So Quinton, I think I've been on a bit of a journey to put it mildly I wasn't
1:37.7	always sort of you know absolutely passionately committed to sustainability and climate and the environment. I fully admit I'm a bit of a late
1:46.8	comment to this. But midway through my sort of parliamentary career I had the opportunity to become energy
1:55.4	and clean growth minister under Theresa May's government and it was just during that time that the UK decided to make the commitment to become the first G7 country to sign net zero into law.
