It's official. The Royals are pitching and winning baseball games. They've won three in a row, which doesn't really feel like three in a row because they had two off days. They had the rain out on Sunday and then the off day on

Monday, but over the period in the course of five days, the Royals have now won three in a row

and leveled their record for the season at five and five. Are people paying attention? Is it

gaining traction? Does it mean anything? I don't know. The

Royals have played 10 games and they've pitched two shutouts. I've been very harsh about the pitching on

this team. I don't like the starting pitching on this team. I've not seen anything from the young

pitchers to make me believe that there is anything lasting. But wow, on Wednesday night was Daniel Lynch

phenomenal. Everybody loves a big left-handed that throws 97 miles an hour, don't we? And he went out

and did and really showed all of the promise and all of the reasons why the Royals drafted this

young man. Five-innings scoreless for Lynch in this game. He gave up four hits, a walk, two strikeouts, and you just had to love it. He got knocked around pretty good in his first game against the Cardinals. And what I really love, and this is really, really, really important because it's never with Royals pitchers, it's not about the stuff. Anybody can go take a radar gun. They can watch pitchers. You can see what they have.

You can fall in love with it. You can just love a breaking pitch.

You can like a young person. You can say they've got what it takes, but you don't really know

if they have what it takes. This is a hidden gem.

And I'm putting this at the top of the podcast because I've covered sports for a long,

long, long time. And when I hear things like this out of a young player, it gets me excited.

It is no guarantee. Daniel Lynch may become, you know, psycho pitcher, have it one game and not the

next. We don't know. But he's got all the physical tools you could possibly want. And he said after

the game, they started asking him about his first bad outing against the Cardinals and how this was

so much different against the twins. And he said, you know, I wasn't really thinking about that.
