Summary

Comedian, actor, and late night comedy correspondent Roy Wood Jr. talks to Tig about who might take over as host of The Daily Show, and discusses why late night talk shows need to evolve. Tig and Roy combine their personal knowledge to advise a tourist about the best places to visit in the American South, but they disagree about the question of whether a bride or the groom’s mother gets the last word about a wedding dance.

Listeners, it's the last day of November. Winter starts tomorrow. Christmas is just around the

0:07.1

corner. And speaking of Christmas, one of the best gifts I ever got was from my wife, Stephanie.

0:14.8

She got me just a card. And in the card, it said she had donated to a place called home,

0:22.8

which was something I had mentioned to her in passing that I just really, really loved what

0:32.0

they were all about and that I was interested in finding out more of what they did and maybe going

0:39.5

down in person. That was right before the pandemic. Yeah, it was Christmas of 2019. And I truly burst

0:49.9

into tears. I was so touched that she remembered that I had said that and I know it probably sounds

0:58.9

corny to some, but it was really one of the best gifts I had ever received. And it's reminding me

1:06.7

as I'm talking about it that I want to follow up and check out what they're doing. This is not an

1:12.7

ad for this charity. This is truly just one of my favorite gifts ever. It was a non-commercial

1:20.1

way to make the holidays very, very memorable. And I would love to encourage whoever's listening

1:26.5

to do the same or give back if you can or you feel like it. And I'm actually just looking at their

1:33.2

website. And a place called home provides a safe nurturing environment with proven programs and

1:41.4

arts, education and wellness for the young people in South Central LA to help them improve their

1:47.2

economic conditions and develop healthy, fulfilling and purposeful lives. So there you go. And I hope

1:56.0

everybody's hanging in there. It's the great time of year for a lot and not so great time for others.

2:03.0

And I'm wishing you all the best. Now on to my conversation with Roy Wood Jr.

2:13.3

What's the name of the song again? I'm too sexy. You know that I'm too sexy. Full you love.

2:19.7

I can't believe I'm singing this. For my shirt. I'm too sexy. Yeah, too. So sexy. Or yeah,

2:25.9

that's what it is for my pants. So sexy. Yeah.

2:40.0

We are not alone. Nobody is hopeless. Everybody goes to

2:46.0

me. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. This is Don't Ask Tig. I'm Tig Notaro. Here to remind you
