This is on point. I'm Megna Chakrabardi. There have been reports of attempts to reach some sort of deal between Israel and Hamas,

one that could potentially lead to the release of several dozen Israeli hostages

in exchange for a pause in hostilities in Gaza.

However, just today, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

at a meeting with hostages relatives

said that he would invade the Gazaan city of Raffa, quote,

with or without a deal.

This follows a phone called Netagnahoo had

with President Joe Biden on Sunday,

where Biden reiterated his warning against Arafa invasion unless

civilians are properly protected.

Biden has called Arafa invasion, quote, a red line. Currently more than half of Gaza's two and a half million people are in Rafa.

On the West Bank Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said yesterday that an invasion of Raffa would be

quote the biggest catastrophe in the Palestinian people's history end quote.

Netnyahu said that falling short of the total destruction of Hamas leaves the Israeli people in peril.

Quote, the idea that we will halt the war before achieving all of its goals is out of the question,

the Prime Minister said in a statement released by his office.

The war has caused deep and painful political fractures amongst the Israeli people.
