That makes me Carrie Poppy and we are very excited today to be talking to an author.

Finally, we, someone who's written a book.

We hinted at this a little while ago, but we've been excited for a while to talk to Alice

Gretchen.

Yes, author of Wayward.

Yes, Wayward, yeah.

Wayward.

Wayward, a memoir of spiritual warfare and sexual purity.

It's a personal story that resonated so much with certainly my own experience and yet it

felt so dialed up just in terms of how Alice was.

It was exposed to fundamentalist Christianity, charismatic movement, kind of the whole speaking

in tongues, lane in the spirit thing and that she had these parents who gave up their

lives and their home to take their children on the road and sort of subsist on the kindness

of other church people.

Yeah, so kind of a evangelical Christian version of stories that you hear of like monks

into that to give up asceticism, yeah, the stuff of their lives.

And so she was homeschooled and experienced many, many different churches where she was

exposed to all these ideas sort of out of the sight of her parents and there's like
