The voice on the other end of the phone softened slightly.

Certainly so. Would you like me to write out a card for you?

Sir?

The phone clicked as the receiver was placed back into the holder,

giving him the small weight of the Bakerite funnel.

He leant back against the glass panes and turned over a small card in his fingers,

reading the words written in scrawled ink as a car passed in the street outside,

illuminating the white board as it flipped over.
