Summary

Another week in tennis, another tournament where the women were treated as second class citizens. This time, the singles final didn’t start until 11pm and the doubles final took place on a non-televised court. There were some reasons for this - rain being the obvious one - but Catherine, David and Matt discuss why this shouldn’t be acceptable.

There’s also chat about Anhelina Kalinina’s great week before her unfortunate retirement in the final through injury, debate about whether Rome champions Elena Rybakina and Daniil Medvedev are in The Mix for Roland Garros, and much enjoyment from Medvedev’s dance/twist/whatever that was after he beat Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Elsewhere, we discuss the fact that Simona Halep has been charged with a second and separate doping offence, and we look ahead to the French Open as qualifying gets underway.

0:30.0	Denise pointed out that Martin and Avratel over who Catherine spent some time with this week
0:34.7	won 12 WTA titles in Chicago. Imagine that. I mean, in... I didn't even know there wasn't
0:41.3	tournament in Chicago but apparently there was Martin as one at 12 times because if there's been
0:45.6	a tournament she's no doubt one at several. And Martin was presented with the Golden Racket
0:51.6	award by the Italian tennis federation this week. Lovely moment just before the
0:56.5	rain started again. And yes, Stephanie Berg also won an award last week but two in Rome.
1:04.4	So there's been lots of awards and they've kind of managed to get some of the tennis played
1:08.4	eventually as well. But very big thank you to Denise for introducing this edition of the
1:13.9	tennis podcast. And Chicago very much the city I would one day like to visit.
1:20.2	Catherine is still just about in Rome in the lounge and is that sunshine I can see out of your
1:28.5	window next to you Catherine? Yeah it doesn't look like Rome because in my experience Rome looks
1:34.8	wet and cold and grey and it's flipping glorious outside of the window. I am sitting next to it
1:41.6	at the moment so I don't know what this Rome is but I don't recognize it from the last week of my
1:50.4	experience. Yeah, interestingly just on the Golden Racket award that Martina was awarded yesterday
1:57.4	and I'm very glad she was and it was an incredibly touching moment that we covered on prime and
2:03.9	Martina gave her speech in Italian which was incredible. I was there behind the scenes with her when
