God will love you regardless of what you do. Your badness will not change your new born-again nature any more than your goodness would change your sinful nature.

And now here's Andrew.

Welcome to our Wednesday's broadcast of the Gospel Truth. I'm in the middle of my fourth week teaching through the book of Romans, verse by verse.

And I tell you, we're in Romans chapter 6 and we are just saying radical, radical things, things that you are not going to hear very often.

0:44.0

I haven't got time to go back and put all of this in its context, but do let me mention that we have a brand new book out in title,

0:53.0

Paul's Masterpiece on Grace. And this is a commentary on the book of Romans. And it has not only the printed text of Romans in it, but then it has my living commentary portion of Romans, the Romans commentary.

1:07.0

And then it has notes from teachings that I've done on this, all of this combined and you put it all together. And I guarantee you, if you get this book and don't understand the book of Romans, you just didn't hear it.

1:21.0

It's in there. This will explain it. And I promise you this will make a big difference in your life.

I've been teaching some radical things not because they're so bad. I mean, they're just, it's just biblical truth, but it is so contrary to our religious traditions and doctrines that we've been taught.

And here in Romans chapter 6, Paul started off by saying that he had preached grace so strong that it's not based on our performance, that it made people ask the question, well, then does it matter about our performance? Can we just go live in sin?

1:55.0

And the answer to that is an absolute unqualified no. God forbid. How shall we that are dead to sin live any longer therein?

2:04.0

He gives two reasons in Romans chapter 6, why you don't take the grace of God and go live in sin. First of all, it's because you are dead to sin.

2:16.0

What that means is it doesn't mean that you're incapable of sinning. Christians can sin and sometimes they do it very, very well.

2:25.0

Christians can sin, but the truth is you are dead to that old sin nature that drove you and compelled you to sin. Your sin nature is dead. It's gone. It doesn't exist.

2:41.0

You see, this gets really complicated, not because it is complicated, but because religion has taught us, oh, no, you still got that old sin nature. And they will use scriptures like here in Romans chapter 7. I'm not going to get that today, but sometimes this week, maybe next week, I'll be getting to Romans chapter 7 where the good that I want to do, I can't do et cetera. And I'm going to explain that.

3:04.0

It's not talking about that you've got dual natures, that your skits are frenic. And there's part of you that's born again and loves God, and there's part of you that loves the devil. No, that's not what this is talking about.

3:15.0

chapter 6 says there are two reasons that you don't take the grace of God and live in sin. The first one is that you are dead to sin. Your old man is crucified with Christ that the body of sin should be destroyed. That's talking about the unrenewed mind, the things that were left behind when the old man died. Just like when a physical person dies, their physical body exists for a period of time before it decays and turns to nothing.

3:44.0

Likewise, when you get born again, the old sinful nature left behind wrong thinking, wrong attitudes, habits, things that you were addicted to, but there's no longer a spiritual force that is holding you to it. It's just a matter of renewing your mind.

4:04.0

Man, that is awesome. That transformed my life. So let me go back to some verses. I've already read this, but it's great review. In verse 5, for if you've been planted together in the likeness of his death, which you have, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection. This is how it should be, but verse 6 says knowing this that the old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed. That's talking about the unrenewed mind.

4:33.0

Attitudes, values that the old man taught us, that henceforth we should not serve sin. And then I ended yesterday with verse 7, for he that is dead is freed from sin.

4:46.0

F-R-E-D, you've been freed from sin, but that doesn't mean that you're free. You got to know the truth. You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free as what Jesus said in John chapter 8, verse 32.
