but now an Orthodox priest serving at Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Church in Lafayette, Louisiana.

But so he continues in verse 12,

therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh,

to live according to the flesh.

So does he mean by debtors?

Well, our flesh wants all these things, right?

It craves all these things, it craves all these things it demands all these

things and what say Paul is saying with this debtor language is you don't owe it

anything right you don't have to satisfy those desires right just because your

flesh wants these things you don't have to say yes right you don't have to feed

them and that means you don't because we don't owe it anything because we don't have to feed it then we don't have to say yes. Right. You don't have to feed them. And that means you don't,

because we don't owe it anything, because we don't have to feed it, then we don't have to live

according to it. For if you live according to the flesh, you will die. But if by the spirit you

put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

So, right, this is pretty clear.

If you get rid of those things,

self-following those things, you will live.

If you continue to follow after them, you will die because that's where that road leads.

Not God's going to get angry at you and he's going to kill you for breaking his rules that's just where the road leads right as he said earlier
