section of the Bible. So we're in Romans 7 and I want to read verse 14 and every once in a while you come to

a verse that just grabs you by the lapels and kind of won't let you go and

verse 14 has been that for me and it's not the greatest verse in the Bible but it's like one I've passed over and haven't really had to give more careful thought to this.

And so I'm going to read 14 through 17, but I don't think we're going to get past verse 14 today and

this is one of those rare studies where we're going to pull over and park for just

a little bit and this may give us more time for discussion.

And as I begin to read this, I need to tell you every commentary that I've read on this and every study Bible that I've read on this, which is a bunch,

have all said virtually to an author,

this is the most difficult passage in Romans to interpret.

Wow.

More than Romans 9, which is just abundantly clear.

And this is the most controversial in that it's the most difficult to get our arms

around.

So that's why I wrote out of

of verse 17, but I just know we're not gonna get out of verse 14.

And there's a part of me, because this is a Bible study,

there's a part of me that wants to get this right and wants to clarify just even from my own

understanding what the apostle Paul is saying here and I want you to wrestle with this with me also.
