Welcome to Searchlight, a survey through Scripture with Pastor John Corson.

It is our desire to bring you a systematic study of the entire Bible,

chapter by chapter, book by book.

On our last Searchlight program, we began our first study in the Book of Romans. One of the things

that we discussed was that the Book of Romans has sparked many revivals

throughout the centuries. Great men such as Augustine, Martin Luther, and John

Wesley were all deeply affected by the Book of Romans. As we join our teaching in progress today, we

will also hear a personal story of the impact of this magnificent book. With our study,

here now is Pastor John. For me, personally, my life was changed when I went to Calvary

Chapel as an 18-year-old college freshman and sat there,

and the first study that I had the opportunity of going through was Chuck teaching Romans.

And being at a school that stressed commitment and obligation and responsibility, I can't tell you

what Romans did to me when I was hearing for the first time in that way, you mean I don't have

to be religious? You mean I don't have to pray more, give more, witness more?
