Well folks, day nine of Roland Garros 2022 is in the books and our quarter final line-ups

are set and there are one or two surprises in there and while we always expect some surprises,

we didn't expect these surprises, did we? And of course that is what makes them surprises,

but they are nonetheless surprising surprises, David.

Yeah, they are. I can follow that. No, they are. I mean, they're really surprising. I did not

expect what happened this afternoon this evening to happen with Sitabas and Medvedev.

I really would have been properly shocked as you told me that was going to happen.

I think what I mean is something along the lines of I did not have Denille Medvedev in my pre-tournament

quarter final line-up and yet I really, really, really didn't expect him to lose to Marantillich tonight,

especially not losing the manner that he did very, very one-sidedly. We now have a situation in the

bottom half of the Men's Draw where one of Holgeruna, Kasper Rud, André Rublev and Marantillich

will be a French open finalist. Who saw that coming? Not me. The difference in pedigree, particularly

claycult pedigree between the top half of the Men's Draw and the bottom half of the Men's Draw

is pretty staggering. I don't think Runa, Rud, Rublev or Chilich, any of them have ever won

a big title on clay. Certainly not a grand slam, certainly not a Masters 1000 event.

And in the top half you've got players who have won multiple slams on clay, multiple Masters events

on clay. We've said it all tournament. The bottom half is a land of opportunity and even more so now

that in particular Sitter Pass has gone out but also throw Men's Draw Medvedev in there as well.

And I agree with you, I think round four for Men's Draw Medvedev honestly feels like quite a good
