an average in the heart of the Midlands. I am Royfield Brown and with me I have a very special guest on this

Dundee extra. It's a writer of some 25 years vintage of the in doing the archers.

Who are you sir? I'm Kerry Davis.

Well on in radio, unlike television which is a little bit like a factory with lots of people doing individual jobs.

Radio is more of a cottage industry.

We are all inspired by different characters to different degrees so we may be more interested in coming up with

story lines for a particular character than somebody else. Sean O'Connor for

example you know he was very much a generator of stories. He was so

creative that he didn't need to rely so much on the rest of the team. Now it's my job then to turn that into

radio drama scenes.

They're still at that stage.

They're stories.

They're just stories.

And I was very underqualified frankly.

So it probably took me a good two years.

Well, you know, I'd never worked in professional with professional actors.

I don't amateur theatre.

I'd written and directed amateur theatre, but that's a very different

kettle of fish. The BBC has been progressively starved of funds and and yes so so I definitely drew on on my own experiences of a couple of early

it's like slightly disastrous relationships which we're not barely relationships at all actually.
