In our polarized world, seeing conservatives and liberals agree on something is kind of like finding water in the desert.

Well, one of those agreements actually happened in the desert.

New Mexico Governor Michelle Luan Grisham used emergency powers to suspend the right to carry firearms in Albuquerque for 30 days.

For those carrying a pocket constitution, this goes directly against the Second Amendment right to bear arms.

As expected, the police chief, sheriff, and Attorney General of New Mexico all said they

would not enforce this order.

However, what was not expected was some of the loudest advocates for gun control in the

country agreed that this crossed the line.

And today we're going to go straight into something that we've never really seen done before. We have New Mexico's Governor Michelle Luan Grisham. She issued an emergency public public public. Sus suspending the right to carry firearms in public.

This is across Albuquerque and the surrounding county for at least 30 days in response to a spate of gun violence.

So the order specifically states, no person other than a law enforcement officer or licensed security officer shall possess a firearm either openly or concealed.

And for those of you who have read the Constitution before, this seems like a pretty

direct suspension of a constitutional right that the founding fathers believe was given to us

by God. So I'm going to get into the reasoning here. I'm going to pass it right off to Erica.
