Hello, I'm Kirstie Young, and this is a download from the Desert Island Discs archive.

This edition may be slightly different from what was actually broadcast, but it is the only version we have.

It comes from the British Library's radio collection.

The recording didn't contain the guest's eight music choices,

so we rebuilt the original show by using discs from the BBC Gramophone library.

For rights reasons, we've had to shorten the music.

and the presenter was Roy Plumley. This week our castaway is the actor Roger Moore.

Very badly. I strum it for my own amusement.

Well, I had a couple of picking lessons from John Pertwe years ago.

I was making a series called Ivanhoe and John was a friend of mine.

And I was suffering with

duodinal ulcer problems worrying about my performance I what performance I was

playing Ivanhoe but he said by ukulele and strum the ukulele I mean by the time you picked out G. A B and D flat

It's like what he beads. Yes, he said you it'll solve all your problems and from that I moved on to the guitar.

Do you ever play it in public?

No, never.
