As we're recording this, it's awards time in Hollywood.

All the studios are pushing their shiniest bobbles onto the filmmaking community

in the hopes that they will garner little gold statues

that can help inflate the box office.

This year is a bit different than most.

The important studio movies are for the most part crashing and burning.

How can you tell they're important?

Because they're hugely expensive and at least three hours long.

But the audiences are not responding, which this year is not surprising.

Hollywood is spending a huge amount of time making bloated movies that movie goers

just do not want to see avatar to the contrary.

What movies are making money?

Those feisty little movies that go for the jugular, genre movies,

movies that scare you, make you laugh, move you in smaller, more personal ways.
