Hi, everyone. This is Curtis, and I am excited to tell you about a new feature of the GoodFaith podcast, and it's called Campfire Stories.

Now, in a great campfire, everyone has the opportunity to share their stories. And so, in Campfire Stories, we want to hear from you.

We want to hear a story about what you are doing along the themes of the GoodFaith podcast, perhaps it's something about how you're living out your relationships with political polarization, how you are trying to reflect the image of God in your institution and organization, or what you're doing with your money, or your vocation, anything that has been sparked by the themes that we've covered here in the GoodFaith podcast is fear game.

It doesn't matter if it's a big story, a small story, or something in between, as long as it's a story about what you are doing in your life.

We're not so much interested in hearing just thoughts, we want to hear stories of doing.

So, we'll put a link in the show notes where you can just click on it and then supply us the basic outlines of your story of doing, of living out the themes of GoodFaith podcast.

And we'll look at it and we may invite you to share that story on a GoodFaith blog, a social media, or perhaps even invite you to come on the GoodFaith show yourself and talk to me and share your story.

Welcome to the GoodFaith podcast. I'm David French with Curtis Chang, and my goodness Curtis, we scheduled, we're recording on a Friday, which we always record on a Friday, and about 50 minutes before recording time, the Dobs decision dropped.

So, Roe versus Wade, just to everybody knows by now is overruled, the issue of abortion is returned to the States. So, just to be super precise about what happened, the Supreme Court did not ban abortion, the Supreme Court held that the 14th Amendment of the Constitution does not, the 14th Amendment of the Constitution does not protect or write to an abortion.

The issue of the legality of abortion is returned to the States and to the federal government, the elected branches of the federal government, where it has authority, appropriate authority. So, that means depending on where you live in the United States, your world is either not different at all.

So, Curtis, you're in California, this did nothing to change the law in California, where I live in Tennessee, we have something called a trigger law, which means that once Roe is overturned a sweeping abortion ban, not a total ban, but a sweeping, sweeping limitations on abortion come into effect.

So, it just really depends on where you are as to what the actual legal impact of the abortion decision will be. So, we're going to talk about that for a bit. We also have a guest that, fantastic guest named Rachel Ferguson, who's going to talk to us about her book called Black Liberation Through the Marketplace, it's a great conversation, and we're going to turn to that in just a little bit.

But we thought we'd start with some discussion of the Dobbs case and the implications. This is not going to be a legal podcast, we're not going to break down the majority and the concurrence and the dissent, you just heard the legal portion of this podcast.

But let's just turn to the sort of the, not very many people actually are thinking about this in truly legal terms right now, Curtis.

And so, let's talk about the way that people are going to be actually thinking about this and processing this, and you had some thoughts that we were talking about in the green room right before the podcast. So, yeah, why don't you share some of your initial thoughts and questions?

Well, my initial thought is just, maybe this is the pastor in me, but also this is that I have friends and close people who are close in my life who are going to respond to this news with a deep visceral fear and alarm and anxiety and insecurity.

And that is a human reality that has to be acknowledged, addressed, and has to factor in how we respond at every level, but especially spiritually and relationally that are neighbors.

And for many of us, friends and family members close people close to us are reacting to this with some deep emotional pain.

And so, if a listener, and obviously this depends on what your perspective is, if you think this is a, this is great news, and this is a much sought after cultural and legal victory.

Okay, you know, that, of course, some people are going to feel that way. I think it's just critical that all of us recognize we've got people who are feeling very threatened right now, not just because of the abortion issue, but because of this sense that the Supreme Court is poised
