Broncos, ring of frameer, Rod Smith, good friend, mentor to me, undrafted, legend, 11,000 389 yards, 68 touchdowns, two Super Bowl rings, two second team all pros, three pro bowls.

0:15.3

Man, ring of fame.

0:16.7

My man, Rob, what's going on, my man?

0:19.1

What's happening?

0:19.7

How are you guys doing?

0:46.6

We doing great, man. How are you? I'm good, man. Excited for what's coming up. You know, with football season, man. There's a lot of good things happening. And I'm looking forward to our team, getting back to what we were. They're finishing the job. 100%. They started OTAs this week, and I know, especially just having conversations, you being a mentor of mine, when I came here, I reached out to you just how to make the team as an undrafted guy.

0:49.1

OTAs were always important for guys like ourselves.

0:57.9

What's something that's just top of mind for you as you think about back to your playing career that stood out to you during OTAs?

0:59.8

Like what do you think back?

1:02.1

You got any stories, any memories from your OTA's days?

1:03.4

Oh, man.

1:07.0

It was, honestly, when you're undrafted, man, anything goes.

1:28.9

And I think some of those guys, you know, you were probably a star at your school or wherever you went and you still went undrafted. So you can kind of feel a little defeated. Hopefully you play with a chip on your shoulder. But these OTSs are very crucial for you to get in that playbook. It's not time to study Denver as a city and understand what stars. No, you only focus is inside those gates over there and focus it on football.

1:46.7

Man, I'm going to my room. I was in my playbook every single day. You don't know how many reps you're going to get. You don't know the quality of the reps you're going to get. You know you're going to get something and you've got to stand out, man. It's running game, whatever it is. You've got to figure out of way to get on the coaches radar these OTAs because you want to

1:45.7

get there when everybody comes back. You know, not just the rookie mini camps and that kind of stuff. You want it when everybody is in the building and you want to be the final way to stand out. Well, Rod, so thank you so much for joining us on the Exfendi mobile call in line. And I want to ask you about one of the guys that we'll be

2:00.9

grinding this new playbook is Jalen Waddle, the new edition. What do you think he brings to this Denver

2:07.7

Broncos team? You know what? One thing he does, he brings a veteran leadership. You know what?

2:13.2

I was thinking about that because I knew you guys were going to bring it up. I was thinking about who he can be for us coming up. Emmanuel Sanders comes in mind. Benny and I, we're real close to Emmanuel. But Emmanuel was a free agent guy who came from Pittsburgh. He comes over to Denver and he makes a huge impact. I mean, just they love him. And plus we want a Super Bowl with him. And that's what you want. It's a guy with speed. He has the ability to get over and make the tough plays. He did in the Super Bowl. He did throughout the regular season throughout his career. And for me, I see Jaylon while adding that level for us, you know, when it first announced, we gave up a first round pick and I said, I said, I think we're giving up a lot.

2:52.8

They took it and just said a lot. They didn't say everything I said. So let me say everything I said.

2:58.0

Because a first round pick in the NFL to me is still very valuable. And if you plan on using this guy at a high level, that's the only reason you get him in the first round.

3:07.6

Oh, you give up a first round pick.

3:09.2

I understand there was some other stuff involved.
