kennels.

So the beginning in 2019, they actually scheduled fentanyl analogs themselves, and then this

last year they scheduled and controlled the precursor chemicals that go into making chemical as another effort.

Today I am joined by the Assistant chief of operations for the South Central

Region in the DEA, or Drug Enforcement Agency, which covers the Houston Division, San Antonio

Division, Rocky Mountain Division, Dallas Division, and El Paso, Jonathan Pullen.

Mr. Pullen is a former Special Agent in charge with the DEA in both Denver and Houston,

and he led and supported

international investigations and intelligence programs across 12 countries and 18 offices,

targeting global criminal networks involved in drug trafficking, money laundering, terrorism,

and other threats. Let's dive into the show.

I have so many questions based just on your background, and I want to ask a few after this.

But even for my own edification, by doctrine, what is the DEA's role? Where do they sit inside of all of this? And what kind of explicitly is the DEA supposed to focus on?

Well, so we're we're drug enforcement, right? And our middle name is enforcement. And so that's, that's really what we focus on. We're the only law enforcement agency in the United States that has a single mission, right?

FBI has a whole host of crimes that they investigate,

Homeland Security, the same thing, right?

They have 70, 80 federal crimes that they investigate.

DEA works on drug traffickers, right?
