Earlier in the year when Dexter Fletcher's Rocket Man, the movie that turns Elton John's

live story into a musical, using his own music as a soundtrack and narrative backbone,

a world away from more anodine straight down the middle musical biopics I could mention.

I was so taken by the movie that we dedicated a spoiler special podcast to it featuring

an interview with Mr Fletcher.

That by the way is still available for you to listen to wherever you cast your pods.

But another big fish remained elusive, Taren Edgerton, the man he plays Elton John,

so wonderfully in the film.

We tried to make something happen for the pod, but couldn't quite get it off the ground.

Until it is a couple of weeks ago when both Taren and Dexter were kind enough to pop

along to a very special live podcast interview following a screening of Rocket Man at the

Picture House Central in London.

You're about to hear a virtually unedited version of that Q&A.

I've taken out a few ums and as, but otherwise if you weren't lucky enough to be one of the

300 people in the audience at night, this is 99.9% of what they said.

And it was a lot of fun along with some interesting insights into the process of making Rocket Man.

Since that night, Taren has of course been nominated for a Golden Globe for his performance,

but as you're about to hear, we started off a talk of another major nomination.
