Summary
Rochelle Humes is a singer, presenter and founder of the hugely successful family lifestyle brand, My Little Coco.
At just 12 years old, she won a place in S Club Juniors, before going on to top the charts with The Saturdays. Since then, she’s built a hugely successful career across entertainment and business.
Rochelle has been grafting her whole life. And that’s exactly how she likes it. Raised by her mum on a council estate, Rochelle grew up watching her work incredibly hard to provide for her and her sister. In our conversation, she explains what it taught her and why she’s always been determined to succeed.
In this episode, Rochelle shares:
- Auditioning for S Club Juniors with Frankie Bridge
- How her single mum raised her to be fearless
- Filming a reality TV show with The Saturdays
- How uncertainty after The Saturdays pushed her to build her own business
- Her first date with her husband, Marvin and how he won her over
Rochelle is an absolute ray of sunshine. She reminded me that backing yourself and putting the work in can take you further than you ever expected.

| 0:00.0 | I made more money in Escob Juniors I did in the Saturdays. |
| 0:03.2 | What? So at the time, you're the chosen one. So you never want to rock the boat because you're like, do you know how many girls would be whipping these extensions that ready to put them in there? We'd leave a club and photographers would be on the floor trying to get up our skirts. And it was that horrible era. And we weren't earning enough money. It wasn't like, okay, I don't like this anymore. Let's |
| 0:21.8 | stop. It was not necessarily the life that I suppose people thought that it was. Sorry. Oh, |
| 0:27.6 | you didn't know this. No. Hi, I'm Rochelle Humes and I'm in great company. |
| 0:33.1 | Roschelle Humes, everybody. Marvin apparently took your phone, put his number in it, called himself. He called my phone and then there's a number calling me that I don't know. And I answer it. It's like, hi, it's Marvin. Do you know what I mean? I'm like... Our first date, we just went for a drive. We went to a drive from McDonald's. Did you fancy him? |
| 0:55.2 | How awful. |
| 0:56.6 | And I married him. |
| 0:58.2 | Your dad wasn't around. |
| 0:58.6 | No. |
| 0:59.8 | And he left when you were one. |
| 1:04.0 | I remember waiting for him back then being like, oh, he's not coming today. |
| 1:08.1 | There was so many years that I was like, I'd be really upset about it or really angry. |
| 1:14.0 | My mum, she raised me and my sister solo. She had me in a hostel what she did as a single parent. I never knew that we didn't have a lot. Lifewise, sort of |
| 1:20.6 | financial. I never knew. Guys, welcome back to another episode of Great Company. Really excited |
| 1:27.3 | because we have Rochelle Humes |
| 1:29.3 | on the podcast today. Okay, Rochelle is one of my friends within the industry and I've been trying |
| 1:33.9 | to get it on the show for ages. She finally said yes. Let's go. Today we talk about so many things. |
| 1:39.4 | She was born in a hostel and her mom, who's an incredible person, had to work so many jobs to keep |
| 1:44.1 | everything afloat. Incredible story. Her uncle played a lot in growing up as well and her uncle was Paul Ince, is Paul Ince, the England footballer. Incredible, I had no idea about that, which is amazing. We talk about joining S Club Juniors when she was 11 years old and then joining the Saturdays as well, if you're a Saturdays fan, and the fact that she earned more money doing S Club Juniors than she did in the Saturdays. That is wild. We talk about Marvin Hume's her husband, where they met when they first dated, and everything around that. So much in the show for you. Okay, now before we start, I can ask you just two things. If you haven't watched mine and Sophie's Disney Plus show called Raising Chelsea. It's out there right now. You can go and check it out. It's on Disney Plus, and we really hope you like it. And if you haven't subscribed to this show, if you can just click that one button, just click the follow button, it does so many wonders for us. Keeps allowing us to make the show that you like, keeps us getting the better guests that you like, and keeps upping our game, making those 1% better each time. |
| 2:36.4 | If you do that one thing, I thank you so much. |
| 2:38.1 | Okay, enough from me. |
| 2:40.4 | Here you go, enjoy this episode of Great Company with Rochelle Humes. |
