Summary

This is a Grave Talks CLASSIC EPISODE! PART TWO

Robert the Doll is widely considered one of the most terrifying cursed objects in the world—and for more than a century, his reputation has only grown darker.

In 1904, the straw doll was gifted to a young boy named Robert Eugene Otto. What followed was a bond that went far beyond childhood imagination. Soon, strange and unsettling events began unfolding inside the Otto family home—objects moving on their own, disembodied laughter, voices that didn’t belong to any living person. Visitors claimed the doll changed expressions. Some believed something else was looking out through his glassy eyes.

To this day, legend holds that a malevolent spirit inhabits Robert, attached to him for reasons never fully explained. Now housed at the Fort East Martello Museum in Key West, Robert continues to leave a trail of unexplained misfortune, apologies, and warnings from those who fail to show him respect.

In this episode of The Grave Talks, we’re joined by Dan Radomski, Robert’s longtime dolltender, to discuss the history, the hauntings, and why Robert the Doll may still be watching.

When was that built?

1:15.4

This is like 18, like 50s, early 60s? They built it during the Civil War. They started in 1862. So the Civil War history in Key West is interesting. It was the only southern city that never belonged to the Confederacy. It had always belonged to the union.

1:29.7

So the war kicked off in 1861, but there was already a military presence in Key West, Fort

1:37.0

Zachary Taylor. It's a big fortress. It's still there today. It's a state park now. Early in the war,
