Hi, friends. Welcome to the Onscrip podcast. My name is Jules Martinez-Olivieri. I am the new co-host on Onscript coming to you from North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago. And today I am speaking with my friend, brother, and scholar, Dr. Robert Chau Romero.

Robert is an associate professor in UCLA, departments of Chicano and Chicano Studies, and Central American Studies,

and Asian American Studies. He received his PhD from UCLA in Latin American history and his

jurist doctor from UC Berkeley. So he's also an attorney. Robert Chao Romero is the author of several books, including the Chinese in Mexico, 1882 through

1940, which received the Latino Studies Award from the Latin American Studies Association.

And his newest book, which will be the subject of our

conversation today, is the Brown Church, five centuries of Latino, Latino, Latina social justice,

theology, and identity published by Intervarsity Press. And the Brown Church received recently
