Summary

Poets have frequently appeared in the Correct Realm over the years. For example, did you know that Edgar Allen Poe once ordered a round of flaming sambucas for the whole pub? And Emily Dickinson could often be found sipping a pint of ale whilst reading her weekly copy of Pints Weekly? Yes, The Moon Under Water and wordsmiths go hand-in-hand; and grabbing the hand of everyone's favourite Pub of the Mind this week is the inimitable Rob Auton!

Rob is able to seamlessly blend the world's of comedy and poetry to create shows that are as unique as they are hilarious. He's a mainstay at the Edinburgh Fringe, and even won 'Dave Funniest Joke of the Edinburgh Fringe' in 2013. But something that isn't a laughing matter is just how much he loves pubs, and you can be sure that a lot of thinking has gone into creating his ideal alehouse (just don't expect all his choices to rhyme).

But before we let them in, Robin, you know it was the opening of the tomes ceremony today in the correct realm.

1:28.4

Oh yeah, the tomes ceremony, yes, yeah, yeah, yeah.

1:31.2

Someone was cutting a ribbon.

1:32.9

Every year, people bring out their tomes into the street and have the ribbons cut,

1:38.4

and they will each read a passage in turn as the scrollman goes past in his many robes.

1:45.7

We really did.

1:46.7

And we actually got Angela Ripon in to cut the ribbon as well.

1:50.6

Yes.

1:50.9

Which is a nice touch.

1:51.8

Yeah, Ripon on the rib on.

1:53.6

And then we all head up to the library here in the correct realm,

1:57.4

which is sort of based on Borges' library.

2:02.0

Oh yes, the Library of Babel.

2:03.6

The Library of Babel, where every single combination of letters exists in a book.
