Today is December 1st, and today is Eat a Red Apple Day. And on this date, in 1969,

the United States held a draft lottery. It was the first draft lottery since World War II.

And beginning with foreign policy, Ukraine has asked NATO for an invitation to join the alliance.

Zelensky has suggested the possibility of temporarily ceding territory to Russia in exchange for joining the alliance.

We'll probably have more on this over on the main channel.

Negotiations are moving along for an international treaty on plastic pollution. Last time we checked in on it,

it didn't seem to have any real teeth. It looks like targets will be adopted later.

In Syria, government forces suffered a setback as rebels swept into the city of Aleppo in a move

that left observers stunned. At time of recording,

it looks like government forces are withdrawing and trying to regroup. Russia's defense

minister is visiting North Korea for more talks. The boss of MI6 in the UK accused Russia of a, quote,

staggeringly reckless campaign of sabotage.

We talked about the campaign a few times.

It's unlikely to end or even slow down anytime soon.

Putin has told Russians, there's no reason to panic over the state of the ruble.
