Today is June 16, 2024, and this is episode 43 of The Road to Not Taken, which is a weekly series where we go through the

previous week's events and talk about news that was unreported, under

reported, didn't get the coverage I thought it deserved or I just found it

interesting. After that we go through some

questions from y'all picked by the team and you get kind of an off-the-cuff

answer to them. Okay so starting off in foreign policy, a global poll found that people have greater confidence

in Biden to do the right thing over Trump.

The US announced new sanctions against Russia.

Chiquita has been ordered to pay 38 million to families of Columbians killed by a group they

paid for quote security services.

That will almost certainly be appealed and there's a whole lot to that story.

If that sounds surprising, definitely read into it because it just gets stranger as the more you read.

Russia has reportedly offered a ceasefire that requires Ukraine to give up large portions of the country.

I half expect Ukraine to offer a counter ceasefire as long as Russia gives up St. Petersburg. Aid to Gaza via the pier restarted, then the UN said they needed to

pause delivering the aid because of security risks related to claims

about the pier. Now it looks like the pier is being temporarily removed again

because of high seas. The Israeli government is in disarray after Gantz

resigned. The ceasefire talks are still happening, but there's not a lot of movement.

Moving on to US news, Trump challenged Biden to a cognitive test and then said quote

Doc Ronnie Johnson. Does everybody know Ronnie Johnson, congressman from Texas,

he was the White House Doctor.
