Hey everyone it is Mike Agavino here with the wow the Woody Overton window this is episode

number 23 for August 30th, 2024.

Our buddy is still out in San Diego visiting his granddaughter for the first time.

He's getting on a plane this morning, but he is not going to be with us today.

We are solo and since it's the beginning of sort of the end of summer, the last long weekend of summer with Labor Day, we'll give you a shorter show to kind of lead

you into the weekend and get your Labor Day started.

But looking down at the calendar

and seeing August 30th immediately takes me back

to three years ago.

And it's kind of ironic. We had just moved to New Orleans and we hadn't yet moved

into our house. We had bought the house and we're doing some work on the house.

You know, word of the hurricane approaching came and

everybody started doing all that hurricane prep that you do and growing up in New York. I had been through a couple of hurricanes, but they were, I guess they were category one or maybe category two hurricanes, but they were fast.

I mean, I remember them being maybe a couple of hours in length,

not anything like what we were about to experience with Ida three years ago.

Having just bought the house and having just moved here, we weren't like the veterans around here who know board your house up get a hotel room in you

know somewhere on the panhandle or in the other direction whatever but get out of dodge we we sort of thought it would be

fun to experience mother nature in our new our new house and I guess the good news is we found out that night all the way

into that morning what a fortress this place was because I was not in any way shape

or form prepared for what that hurricane would be.

It was so far beyond anything that I'd ever experienced as a kid and anything that I'd

prepped my family for and none of them had ever been through a hurricane.
