Welcome to the Boneyard with Steve Roberts and as always I am your good friend and host Steve Robertson here on the Monday edition of the yard. It is rivalry week. We're not going to spend a ton of time talking about that today. However, you're going to get a bonus show this week. We'll do Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, in anticipation of the battle for the golden egg.

And we'll recap on Friday.

Then you're your good friend that hosts will be on the road this weekend.

Got some family coming in this week and going to see some more.

Yeah, it's the best time of year.

You get a chance to see everybody.

So today we're going to kind of recap the game.

We'll look a little bit ahead to the Egg Bowl. But we're going to kind of recap the game. We'll look a little bit ahead to the egg bowl,

but we're going to focus on the one over East Tennessee State, and then tomorrow,

kind of going to give you some egg bowl history. I think I'm probably the definitive expert

on the Mississippi State side when it comes to that, at least among the top. So we're going to give some eggball history, then we'll do our customary Wednesday show,

and then, of course, our Friday recap.

So four Boneyards this week, full in their entirety, give you plenty of traveling,

knowledge, entertainment, and education this week.

It's a big week. So we're going to honor a robbery week by, we're going to bring relentless effort. You'll get plenty of strain this week on the show. So we'll get that out there for you. But, you know, good win for state over the weekend. We didn't expect it to be a ballgame. It wasn't a ball game. It's good to get some young guys out there going to speak about some of that too. It's a lot that goes on. You know, and it's like, ask Mike Leach and post game, you know, how do you manage that? You know, how do you decide when it's time to pull the guys, when it's time to put the younger guys in, how do you kind of,

you know, coordinate that out. And he goes, every time that he's put a plan together, it's blown up in his face. He said it's just kind of a, you know, as a situation kind of presents itself, you adjust to that, and you get guys in. And, you know, Chance Levertitch came in and played in relief of Will Rogers, and that was a senior day deal. A lot of people have misconstrued that. Sawyer, of course, did get in. Didn't have a great game. That's to be how it's expected. It's okay. And the good thing is he got out there and got his feet wet a little bit. You know, if I can offer one criticism, you know, have a staff this year, there are some people that's all they do is offer criticism. I don't. I'm a supportive person. But the one criticism that I would make is that in some of these blowout games, we probably should have gotten Sawyer Roberts and more reps. Just because you never know with Will, we've been very fortunate when it's come to health for the most part this year. Of course, Jaden Crummardy was banged up much of the year. You know, Mania Forbes missed the ballgame here. You know, we've had a few things here or there. We've been very, very fortunate this year when it's come to health. But you can't bank on that. It'd been nice of getting saw your some reps, not to mention to kind of give him an opportunity to get some things on tape,

to give you more coachable moments, right? So I don't know that we've handled that as best we could, and I thought that showed Saturday. But again, Sawyer Robertson, a redshirt freshman, we have very high hopes for him. I told you guys on this show and on jeans page.com that the battle for starting quarterback this year was really not close.

Will Rogers was head and shoulders better than everybody else, including Sawyer Robertson.

That's not to say that Sawyer doesn't have a higher ceiling. I think perhaps he does.

But he's not there yet. And his time will come. I've seen some people, too, that have been very supportive of

Wool Rogers, who have kind of been critical of the people that wanted to see more of Sawyer-Robertson. I don't support that either. They're both Bulldogs. It is okay for us to support them both. We don't have to pick a side. And again, there was never really any chance of Sawyer overtaking will this year, nor should he. I mean, you've got an incumbent starter, you know, with a couple

years of experience under his belt. So no, it's, it's not a reasonable expectation to think Sawyer Robertson's going to come in and just take that job in year one. So, you know, we'll see what happens in the future. But, you know, the chance played because it was senior day. And that was the right move. And I know Sawyer probably knows that too.
