On today's show, we're interviewing the former president and the co-founder of the Ritz

Carlton Hotel Company.

In August of 1983, Gerald W. Blakely, who owned and managed to hotel sold the Ritz Carlton

Boston and the U.S. trademark for $75.5, to William B. Johnson, who was once the largest

owner of the Waffle House, franchises.

Oh, yeah!

William Johnson also owned Holiday Ends and Marriots, then William decided to assimilate

four-person dream team in Atlanta to lead the company headed by, none other than today's

guest, Horst Schultz, to create the Ritz Carlton Hotel brand and to establish the Ritz Carlton

chain of hotels.

Schultz dramatically revolutionized the hotel industry while turning the Ritz Carlton into

one of the most remarkable and recognized international brands on the planet.

Horst's obsession with providing world-class customer service has set the standard for

excellence in the hotel industry for over 30 years.

Under his leadership, Ritz Carlton won the prestigious Malcolm Baldritch National Quality

Award in 1992.
