Very good morning and welcome to talk. So we good morning to you.

I'm feeling very sort of fresh this morning. I don't know whether it's just the time of year, but I mean it doesn't look like June the 10th looking out there, does it?

I mean, it looks absolutely dreadful and not very warm, but how are you? Welcome. I'm fine, thank you. Yeah, it's a drizzly

drizzly day, but I mean, it looks like it's going to be drizzly for the next week or so,

which is pretty, pretty sad, especially for election campaign. Very, very miserable. The papers this

morning very much, you know, full of two stories, really. The tragic death of Michael

Mosley, whose body was discovered in Greece yesterday,

but also the rather kind of interesting and perhaps, I mean, if you were watching European

politics, you would have expected this to happen, but most people are not watching European

politics. And so the telegraph today, Macron-Trouthroud in right-wing EU surge, I mean,

it really has kind of taken the continent by storm a little bit,

hasn't it? Yeah, absolutely. And I think, you know, part of it is the fact that we've been

quite preoccupied with our own election. So it's been quite difficult for much of our media

attention to be focused on what's happening in Europe. But absolutely, over the past few weeks,

particularly we've seen quite a lot come out in terms of the rise of the right, and particularly the number of young people who are voting for right-leaning parties.

Especially in Germany, right?

Absolutely, yes. And I think you're right. There's a few things at play there. Part of it is immigration, part of it is net zero. But actually, I would say the major part is cost of living.

Because when cost of living is high, all these other policies, such as the green agenda, which

cost money, becomes much less popular. People are worried it's going to come out of their own

pockets. And the same with immigration. If you feel that you are not being served by your government,

people tend to get quite hostile to other people coming
