0:16.4	Stewart. Well, widely considered one of the greatest literary masterpieces of
0:24.0	all time, the Pilgrim's Progress was written by John Bunyan in 1678 while he was
0:29.9	in prison for his faith, specifically for preaching without the official
0:34.4	sanction of the Church of England. And while he was in prison for over a decade,
0:38.6	he wrote what is considered the classic allegory about a character named
0:44.1	Christian who lived in a city called destruction until a man named evangelist came
0:49.4	to him and showed him the narrow road that leads to life. And as Christian
0:53.2	traveled on the road, he meets these characters like faithful and hopeful and
0:57.2	like ignorance and the flatterers and and some of the greatest imagery and
1:01.8	literature is in this book as you see him walk through this gate that's a
1:05.1	picture of Christ and he carries a burden on his back of shame. But when he
1:09.5	really sees and understands the cross, the burden rolls away and falls into the
1:13.8	empty grave. Some beautiful imagery in this book that's inspired everyone from
1:18.0	CS Lewis to George Bernard Shaw that are crossed the world. People have been
1:22.2	influenced by this wonderful allegory, the story of the Christian life. But
1:26.1	there's this moment where Bunyan writes about this character Christian or early
1:30.0	in his walk as a Christian. He is told go to the house of the interpreter to
1:35.0	learn the basics of the Christian life. How do you walk along the narrow road as
1:39.4	a believer? And he shows up at the interpreter's house and one of the first things
