Hey, everyone.

Sorry to say we're interrupting our normally scheduled programming this week because we've lost a friend of the show, Joshua Clover.

Joshua was on the show twice, I think, and in a moment you'll hear our interview Jamie and I did way back in 2019, taken at Kami Camp.

And in that interview, we mostly talk about music as he was a prolific music writer.

He was also a poet, and I'm going to include some audio of him reading one of his

poems. And of course, he was a great Marxist theorist or a Marxist-theorist, as he liked to say.

Riot Strike Riot is one of the most essential theoretical works and a key piece of the

commonization canon, and I'll put a link to that in the show

notes. But mostly he was an incredibly kind and generous and brave comrade who, during his time at

UC Davis and really everywhere he went, dedicated himself to the struggle. And he made a lot of

enemies in the process, both on the right and on the left. And maybe that's not always a good thing,

but in his case, it really was. We're going to have one of his closest collaborators on the

show next week. I hope Jasper Burns, and I'm sure

we're going to talk more about Joshua then. And I'll also note that we've lost some other

really important communists recently, including Jacques Kamat, who we talked about recently with

Rachel Kushner and Cher Singh from the Indian group Communist Kranti.

And so I think we'll have an episode remembering them and their work too.

But I just wanted to throw this together because Joshua Clover has always been an inspiration to me.

And I'll really miss him.
