Summary

Friends, the last stanza of a poem, the last chapter of a novel, or the last lines of a play are of extraordinary significance, but only if you’ve read the whole work up to that point. Similarly, to understand the book of Revelation, the last book of the Bible, we have to attend to the great sweep of the story beginning in Genesis. The thrust of that biblical narrative—that we are meant to give God right praise, and from right praise follows right order—reaches its culmination in Christ, the Lamb who was slain, who brings the whole universe together in right praise.

0:44.0	interpretation of the book of Revelation. So all during the Easter season reading
0:48.8	number two is from Revelation and I think it's a book very important book but
0:53.5	one that a lot of Catholics I think don't really understand that well. I
0:57.0	mentioned last week that Revelation taking away the veil. It has to do not so much
1:03.4	with the end of the physical universe. It has to do with the giving away of an
1:08.6	old order and the unveiling of a new order and I suggest it last week it has
1:14.4	everything to do with the resurrection of Jesus from the dead which is why we
1:18.4	read it during the Easter season. So our passage for today is taken from the
1:23.8	fifth chapter. So last week we're at the very beginning chapter one. Now we go
1:27.4	on to chapter five of Revelation and John the author of the visionary is brought
1:32.7	up into the heavenly temple. Now I suggested last week when he sees Jesus, Jesus
1:39.5	wearing the robe of a temple priest and he's among the seven branched
1:43.8	candelabra. So he's in the space of the temple. Well now once again John's brought
1:49.6	up into this place of heavenly worship and what we're going to see, this is my
