Well, no doubt you've seen a motorcycle that's completely decked out set up for

adventure riding some riders love to add farkles the more the better to

customize a ride in their minds to equip it for the long haul or maybe

for the rough stuff and there's nothing wrong with that if that's the way you want to do it.

But it does cost a lot of money to do all those mods and the other thing that's often

overlooked with that is not just money.

The more modifications you do, generally speaking, the greater your chance of problems are down the road.

Wiring that shorts out, bolt-ons that come loose, stress maybe where it shouldn't be, cables getting

squished in the steering column, not to mention the fact that the handling of the motorcycle

itself can change.

Every change you make to the bike has a potential to affect the way the bike

handles on the road, even off-road, and this could be serious. Engineers when they're designing these bikes,

they put a lot of thought planning and experience from designing

throughout the years into the motorcycle design trying to get it to perform well and

then ride as safe as possible on the street and off-road and every mod we make sort of changes that design to some degree.

Some help, yes, no doubt, but others can actually hinder the performance,

decreasing performance, really.

Like think about a muffler.

You often hear people changing mufflers, they put on a free-flowing muffler and they don't do any

other mods.

Well, that usually decreases performance rather than increases it.
