Hey guys, Andy here. We have a recycled episode this week with photographer Rick Tomlinson.

I'm publishing it now because probably by the time this comes out, or shortly thereafter anyway,

Rick and his wife, Anika, and their son James are coming sailing with us in Iceland.

As I record this, we're still sitting in Svalbard, but by the time you hear this, we'll be well on the way. And my dad's coming over from the U.S. and Mia's sister and her boyfriend are coming over, and so is Rick and his family. So I thought it was timely to replay this episode from when I recorded it with him at his studio in Cows. And it'll be really cool to to sail with Rick Rick and I'm hoping to record some more stuff

with him while he's with us for 10 days or so in Iceland hoping to get some photo tips from

him obviously but yeah so have a listen to this and then sometime this fall we'll have a new

episode out with Rick from his time with us on East Bjorn you're listening to On the Wind, my podcast about offshore sailing.

Rick Tomlinson is one of Yachting's most accomplished photographers.

What I didn't know before we met was how accomplished he is as a sailor. Rick was a crew member on four consecutive Whitbread races and literally invented the modern concept of the onboard reporter.

Back in his day, Rick was an integral member of the sailing crew.

He took photos on board as a hobby on his off-watches

and even developed film in the galley sink offshore.

Mia and I traveled to Rick's beautiful studio in Cows

on the Isle of White last September

to chat about his career.

He's cool. Probably the last person up there so yeah we're sitting in my studio in cows in the Isle of Wight I've been in this particular building a couple of years now and it was a

derelict building literally water running down the walls on the inside

and when the yacht haven the marina here decided to renovate it i thought it was a good location

because it's the primary route for everybody coming in and out of the marina purely commercial

that people have to go past the door and if you're're in the right place, then you get footfall.
