In just a little over 24 hours, the Philadelphia Flyers will play in their first playoff game since 2020.

And based on the conversations I had today, it appears they are ready for action.

I'm Charlie O'Connor with P.H.O.I Flyers and P.H.O.I. Sports. And these are your Flyers post-practice notes.

Now, as I speak, the Flyers are en route to Pittsburgh for game one of their Eastern Conference round one series against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

But they did practice today in Voorhees before getting on the tarmac and flying across the state.

It was a relatively straightforward practice about 45 minutes, quick, fast-paced, active,

but nothing in particular special about the practice. Aside from the fact that it's a prelude for their first playoff game in six years.

But that fit with the overall mentality of the team. After the practice, I spoke to team leader and top defenseman Travis Sandheim, asked him about the playoffs what the team's mentality was, and he looked at me in the eye and said, it's just another day. Now, that doesn't mean he doesn't think the playoffs are special. Obviously, the playoffs are special. The entire city is excited to see the Philadelphia Flyers back in the postseason. But what he was getting at is that the Flyers have been playing really, really well over these past few weeks. They're playing their best hockey of the season. There's

no reason to try to change that. There's no reason really to try to change much of anything.

Just stay on this run, keep playing good hockey, and good things will happen. Just look at the

standings. The flyers are 18, 7, and 1 since the Olympic break. That's the third best record

in the NHL over that time span. And that's

dating back to the end of February. We're not talking about a couple weeks here. Third best record

in the NHL since that time. Second best record in the Eastern Conference since that time behind only

the red hot buffalo sabers. The flyers certainly do hit the playoffs on a hot streak and they want to keep

it going. And that message of not changing anything, keep doing what's working. Turns out that's coming right from the top. Head coach Rick Tockett, that has been his mantra this week to his team, to his players. And when I talked to him about it today after practice, he was really happy that Travis Sandheim gave me that quote because it seems like it's coming

directly from the headman. I mean, I'm glad he said it. I mean, that was one of my messaging

yesterday. You know, whoever you are, be that guy. Don't change because the stakes are higher.

Yeah, I think what are they? They got 1100 games experience. We have what? Less than less than 200 so is that do we have to change

because of that no you know we've been playing playoff games for a month now a lot of high stick games

and i've but i've seen the personality the guys i haven't seen the team really change their

personality they're still hooting and holler and having fun in the room before the game
