I'd been looking forward to speaking to Richard Ayawadi for some time.

I mean, literally, for some years.

And then when I heard and saw him appearing in Henry Sugar by Wes Anderson,

I was even more excited to speak to him.

And I make the point to Richard in this interview

that if anybody was just born ready to step into the Wes Anderson world,

it's Richard.

I think this is a lovely conversation.

Richard is, I would say, perhaps the biggest quality that came across was his self-effacement.

I mean, and more self-effacing than I was expecting.

He's also a craftsman. He has a wonderful economy of phrase, and we discuss many, many things.

Today is odd because my, and I've not used this word before,

esteemed guest arrived before me.

I wasn't late, let's be very clear.

I was on time, but my guest was early that That never happens. And he came on his own steam,
