Well, an ultra marathon is any running event

that's long, technically longer than a marathon.

I would say I specialize in ultra endurance multi sport.

I'm much more of a triathlete than a pure runner.

So I've done some ultra distance triathlons

and some swim run races, things where you kind of mix up the disciplines a little bit.

How old were you when you started these?

My first ultra endurance race was when I was 42 in 2008.

It was a race called Ultraman, which is a three day,

320 mile double Iron Man distance triathlon that circumnavigates the big island of Hawaii over a couple days.

Wow, so most people are ending their exercising career and athletic career in their 40s,

Well, what happened was I had, I was a swimmer

in high school and college and I competed at a fairly high level at

Stanford. I was on the Stanford University's home team back in the late 1980s. I should say I was a bench warmer
