We've got some NBA free agency notes and nuggets we wanted to get to in this segment.

No surprise. First off, that the Mavericks are going to be hanging, rather bringing in DeAngelo Russell for a two-year, $13 million deal, a player option for that second year.

We talked a little bit about this yesterday, but I think given the options that you had for the point

guard that you need to at least tide you over until Kyrie Irving is healthy and ready to play

in January or February, I think Russell was about your best option. Chris Paul was probably

the next best option, not on my list, but on others list. And other guys that were out

there weren't guys that I thought excited you very much. Not that I'm thrilled about DeAngelo

Russell, but it's a guy who's a capable player, a veteran player 10 years, I think, in the league,

who should give them at least a capable guy better than what they had on the roster to get you through until Kyrie is back.

And hey, when Kyrie is back, you could still play him with Russell because it'd be like him playing with Luca.

You know, Kyrie plays well off the ball too.

Yeah, and I mean, I think with Russell in particular, I mean, you also get a guy that's played with Anthony Davis and Max Christie before. I mean, he started the season with the Lakers last year.

So there's a little familiarity there as well. So hopefully you do have a guy that can step in

while Kyrie Irving is recovering and give you quality minutes. And then once Irving does return

from that injury, you know, he can help kind of ease him back into getting into

game shape where he can take some of those minutes as Kyrie Irving gets himself back up to game

speed. So, I mean, yeah, I mean, I don't think this is, you know, a life-altering signing.

No.

It's probably not going to win your championship tomorrow, but certainly something that was necessary

and on relatively low, dough.

I've got no problem with it at all.

You couldn't roll in with Spencer Dinwiddie as your point guard between now and January or February.
