from WNYC Studios. I'm Brian Lehrer. This is my daily politics podcast. It's Tuesday,

0:11.5

March 25th. With Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at the helm of our country's health agencies,

0:19.3

he is tasked with the job of quelling the disease that's

0:23.3

killed millions of birds and infected some humans along the way, generally known as bird flu.

0:29.9

A few weeks ago, RFK Jr. sat down with Fox News as Sean Hannity at a stake-and-shake in Florida

0:36.4

to talk about what he's doing to curb bird flu infection.

0:40.1

Here's a minute of that conversation, and spoiler alert, RFK opposes vaccines.

All of my agencies have advised against vaccination of birds. Because if you vaccinate with a leaky

0:52.2

vaccine, in other words, a vaccine that does not provide sterilizing immunity, that does not absolutely protect against the disease, you turn those flocks into mutation factories.

1:05.0

1:22.2

as dangerous for human beings to vaccinate the birds. The question is, should you call those blocks?

1:29.8

Most of our scientists are against the culling operation.

1:33.7

They think that we should be testing therapeutics on those flocks.

1:37.7

They should isolate them.

1:39.3

You should let the disease go through them and identify the birds that survive,

1:43.7

which are the birds that probably have

1:46.0

a genetic inclination for immunity, and those should be the birds that we breed like the wild

1:51.1

population. RFK Jr. with Sean Hannity on Fox recently. So is letting bird flu run through

1:59.3

flocks a good idea?

2:01.6

Various infectious disease experts and veterinarians have been saying otherwise.
