Summary

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. dismissed all 17 members of the CDC’s vaccine advisory committee on June 9—specifically, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP). It’s essentially the CDC’s vaccine expert panel responsible for studying the effects—including the side effects—of vaccines that are still in development, as well as those that are already on the market.

Let’s go through the details of why he chose to gut this committee, as well as who he chose to replace the fired members.

On June 9th of this year, RFK Jr. dismissed all 17 members of the CDC's Vaccine Advisory Committee.

0:08.6

Specifically, this committee was called the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices.

0:13.6

However, it's more commonly known by its acronym, ACIP, ASIP. And it's basically the CDC's

0:19.6

vaccine expert panel. They're the ones who are responsible

0:22.7

for studying vaccine effects as well as side effects of both the vaccines that are currently

0:27.3

in development as well as the vaccines that are already on the market. ASIP is also the committee

0:45.5

should be recommended to be placed on the childhood vaccine schedule.

0:49.5

They also determine which vaccines insurance companies must cover.

0:53.2

And although the CDC as a whole has the final say,

0:57.0

the recommendations that come out of ASIP are almost always followed,

1:01.0

like 99% of the time.

1:03.0

In the vast majority of cases, which I want to say 100%, but probably 99%,

1:07.0

whatever this committee decides on does get implemented by the CDC as a whole. Now, in terms

1:13.2

of the members of this committee, most of them, they were practicing doctors and or experts at

1:19.5

major universities. And the way we worked on a day-to-day basis is that each member of the committee

1:24.1

was assigned to a four-year term, and basically they broke it down

1:27.8

into different working groups with each working group being dedicated to a certain illness.

1:32.5

So you had a working group for COVID-19, HPV, influenza, monkeypox, and so on.

1:37.9

In fact, here's how the CDC describes ASIP's work on their own official YouTube channel.

1:42.4

These committee members know a lot about vaccines,
