It was fun being a cardinal, and I felt like an animal and the zoo when I would be stretching down the right field line and all the fans

would be up there just staring at his watch and just watching us stretch and it was it was so

tremendous and you know the women here are beautiful so it was easy to watch I never I never

faced the the wall I was with face the stands

because all those girls were hot and I was a young single man at that time. It was so much

fun. Hey, but I got to tell you, I think I can say it on radio. It wasn't anything, anything bad,

but when I met Harry Carey for the first time, he was in back of the batting

cage, and he said, you're the fastest white guy I've ever seen. And so that stuck in my mind

forever. Of course, you know, I can't say it. You know, on the broadcast, I would never say

anything like that.

But it was amazing just to get a chance to play up here.

And after 10 years in the minors, you know, I wondered how long I would get up here once I got here.

So I really appreciated every single moment being a big leaguer.
