Well, if you opened a new copy of that book today, you'd find the words have shifted a little.

Aunt Spongeb is no longer fat or flabby.

She's now a nasty old brute and Aunt Spiker is no longer thin as a wire.

And these aren't the only dull characters who've been rewritten.

These changes and hundreds more have been brought about by the publishers, Puffin,

in an attempt to better reflect the society we live in today.

Some say they're necessary, others that they amount to censorship.

The children's author and comedian David Bediel believes it's much more nuanced than that.
