And this is Tom Myers, and Greg, a very happy, almost spring to you.

Almost spring.

It's been an odd season, hasn't it? It hasn't really felt either like winter,

and it certainly doesn't feel like spring now.

Regardless of the weather Greg spring officially begins this Monday,

and we're releasing today's show on St. Patrick's Day.

And how appropriate because today's show, which was originally released in 2017,

and has been re-edited and slightly reworked,

is on the history of Irish immigration to New York City.

And really to the entire United States.

This is a great one, and a topic that feels even more relevant than it did several years ago.

Today, of course, there is a sizable Irish presence in almost every major American city,

Boston, Philadelphia. I mean, Tom, they still die the river green in Chicago.

For St. Patrick's Day.

But in the 19th century, New York City had by far the largest Irish population in the United States.

And it really was the center of Irish American life.

Today, obviously, New York is still very, very Irish,

even though we don't die our rivers green.
