All right, let me tell you a cool story about an airline gate.

I know those are the most boring places on earth waiting for the door to open and you're going to board the plane. I'm standing there. It's about 2007. Just played a gig the night before in Denver, Colorado. And I'm standing there at the gate, ready to fly home. And this guy next to me, hear a voice. He's like, what kind of guitar you got in that gig bag there? And I don't remember what I had, but I told him and I noticed he had a gig bag too. I was like, well, how about you? What's you got? And he's all 62 Stratocaster. And then instantly I looked at him again, I'm like, you're Brad Gillis. I've seen you play with Night Ranger. Second concert I ever saw was Ozzy Osbourne at the Oakland Coliseum. I was 12 years old and you were rocking with Ozzy.

As we all know, of course, Brad took over the guitar chair after Randy Rhodes was tragically and unnecessarily killed in that stupid playing crash.

And Brad was the guy. sure enough we connected he knew I

worked at guitar player magazine or I told him or whatever and and we managed to get seats together

on that two-hour flight and he told me his whole story and it was just riveting you know it's

one of the most adventurous hired gun stories in the history of electric guitar. Up and coming guitar player from

Alameda, California gets a phone call one morning that just changes his life. And I was like,

there has to be a way to get this story in depth with all the details out there much more than like,

say, a magazine article can do. It's like, what should we do? Should we do, like, a guitar book to capture all these stories?

Or, well, fast forward to 2015, and it just, you know what, I had to start the podcast,

which you're hearing today.

So, yeah, this is, it's been 10 years now, and this was the first interview I ever did.
