Summary

Originally aired January 2020. Eric Eager (SumerSports) joins Thomas Emerick to discuss Favre vs. Young Part I. The defending champs and a dynasty that makes the conference title virtually every year just got bounced early by a franchise that hasn’t made a deep run in ages, guided by quarterback making good on his second chance in a new town. It’s January ’96, Packers at Niners.   I’m your host Thomas Emerick with guest Eric Eager, vice president of research and development for SumerSports and co-host of the SumerSports Show. SumerSports aims to provide the best-in-class quantitative analysis aimed at creating precision in player acquisition and roster management in the NFL. how bottled up Steve Gehung was. And this game, he threw for 328 yards. It took him 65 attempts,

With what clarity do you remember where you were when the Packers scored the upset as 9.5 point docs?

1:00.0

Pretty clear.

1:02.0

You know, 1995 was the first year that I watched football live.

1:06.7

And I grew up a Vikings fan, but I also grew up hating the Packers.

1:11.0

I grew up, and that was the season where the 49ers were coming off of a Super Bowl title,

1:19.3

and they kind of limped their way to the two-seed.

1:22.1

But I think we all thought that they would win this game.

1:26.4

They were nine and a half-point favorites coming in. They had a 52. This game had a 52 point over under. People expected a lot of scoring, and unfortunately it took the Niners all the way until the end of the first half to even get their first points. So as a Vikings fan growing up, given the Packers were division rivals, but hadn't made any sort of run since the 60s on the other hand yeah
