Hello, my friends. Welcome back to the Morning Mind Set. I hope you are ready to get your

mind aligned with the truth of God's Word. Today we will be continuing our study through

the sermon on the Mount, beginning in Matthew 6 verse 1 today. We're going to be talking

about righteousness, what it really looks like, and what it really means to be a righteous

person publicly speaking. But before we get there, I want to thank those of you who are

listening in my nearest neighbors as far as countries go. That would be Canada, in Mexico,

in Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, all of those nations. Even Cuba, we

have people listening. Those nations are close to where I'm broadcasting from from the United

States. And I hope that you're enjoying the Morning Mind Set. I would love to hear from you and

to know a bit more about how you came to know about the Morning Mind Set. Okay, today we are

moving into Matthew 6 verses 1 through 4. Let's just read what Jesus has to teach us. And then

we will have time to apply it. It says, beware of practicing your righteousness before other people,

in order to be seen by them. For then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.

Thus when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the

synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly I say to you, they have

received their reward. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your

right hand is doing, so that you're giving may be in secret and your Father who sees in secret

will reward you. Now friends, I've always kind of struggled with this because of some of the

imagery that Jesus uses. And I think we'll be able to impact that a little bit today.

But it seems pretty obvious that Jesus' main point is not to do good things so that other people

see you doing good things. Say, kingdom citizens are not involved in the good works that they do

for their own sake. They're involved in those good works for the sake of their king and for the
